Spaghetti Pie

Decided to try a very different recipe from our "old standby," I should have trusted my gut and stuck with tried and true. I say that and only two of us tried it and one loved it and one felt it was missing things. I will try it again but throw the recipe out the window and go more creative with flavors.

Sharing

Because I am not the type of person who won't share cool food creations from the people I love I am posting two pictures of cupcakes my sister Gail made.  They look ridiculously good!!

The first is the "Irish Car Bomb," a Guinness chocolate cake filled with Jameson's Irish Whiskey chocolate ganache and frosted with Bailey's Irish Cream Buttercream.

The Second is the "Tropical Banana," topped with toasted coconut and cream cheese frosting.

 Enjoy!

Bon Bon Update

Went back to Bon Bon last night and had a classic Manhattan served just like Falke and Freda would and it was AMAZING!!!  If all Manhattan's tasted like the one last night I would drink them more often.  On another note, if you ever get the chance to order a Van Gogh's Ear....do it, it tasted yummy!

Swedish Ninja Scramble

We are a small bunch but a very active and stealthy one. We take each day and live it to it's fullest. You might be asking how we are able to do such amazing things each day.....it's this killer scramble. Make it for yourselves and see if you can join our ranks!

Climbing bracelets

This has nothing to do with cooking but Zak and I just made these awesome climbing bracelets and wanted to share.

Bon Bon

Good morning all,

I wanted to share the drinks Dave and I had last night at this cool little, key word here, bar in the Garland District.  It's called Bon Bon and they are quickly becoming known for their master cocktail creations as well as perfecting the traditionals such as a classic Manhattan.  Absolutely a place we need to take mom and dad!!!  Oh, when the bartender poured fire I knew this was going to be a fun place!

My drink, The Smuggler's Notch: Goslings Black Seal Rum, Fee Bros. Orange Bitters, raw sugar cube, wash of Absinthe........yummy!!

Dave's drink, The Sangrita: Espolon Reposado Tequila, Orange Juice, Lime Juice, Grenadine, Hot Sauce. Dave loved it and it was one we actually had to ask how to drink when served.  The tequila was served in a separate glass from the other mixture.  You sipped the tequila and the rest was an accompaniment to your palette afterwards.  It was fantastic!

Chocolate Stout Cupcakes with Bailey's Irish Cream Frosting

Happy Thursday everyone!!

We are celebrating Dave's grandfathers 92nd birthday again tonight and I decided to make these cupcakes (http://www.cookingchanneltv.com/recipes/dave-lieberman/chocolate-stout-cupcakes-recipe/index.html) but change the frosting to a Bailey's Irish Cream concoction.  I have been told that they are A-MAZING from Cj and Emily, two of my most honest food critics.  I will let you know what the rest of the taste-testers think when I post the pics!

Blog Update

I have said a few times that I have slacked on this blog in the past few weeks however that is honestly going to change.  I am in the process of being placed on the waiting list for culinary school, it's roughly a year and a half wait, so this little blog is going to become even more of an outlet for me.  Posts won't be every night but they will happen 3-4 times a week and the photography will be better as well.

If you want a recipe please leave a comment, thank you Gail, and I will post it asap!

Oh, my fish taco marinade has been requested a few times and I keep forgetting to tell you what it is, my bad!  It is from "Simply Organic" and it's their "fish taco seasoning," thank you M & M for that one!!!  I have tried to reproduce it from scratch and I can't get close to how good that one is.

Share this blog with all your foodie friends, I would love to have a good base of people interested.

Please continue to enjoy,
Kristen

Chocolate Crack!

I made this cake for my friends 39th birthday. It was my first Martha Stewart recipe and it was not only incredibly easy but also insanely delicious. It's chocolate upon chocolate upon chocolate and Cj dubbed it "chocolate crack!"

The link to this wonder of chocolate deliciousness has been requested and here it is: http://www.marthastewart.com/335590/easy-chocolate-cake

Crockpot Chicken Chili over Rice

This is a skinnytaste.com recipe. It's very easy and everyone in this house loved it!

Crockpot French Dip Sandwiches

Dave found this recipe and we had to try it.  We have now made it twice and only modified the amount of au jus and added my killer caramelized onions.  Fantastic!!!

Brussels Sprout Au Gratin

How do you make fresh Brussels Sprouts even better?  Bake them in cream and blue cheese!!!!

Dave's 39th Birthday!!

I know I'm behind but tonight is catch up night.

Dave's birthday was a spectacular day!!! 65 and gorgeous and we utilized every hour. We started with Zak making oven pancakes, next was lunch at the gas station (not just any old gas station) and then finished up with a killer dinner, a great Rhone, an outdoor movie in our backyard and finally, peanut butter pie.

This was totally the benchmark for next year!!

The Huckleberry's Omelet

Good morning!!!

My cousin and I have this omelet we love from this local organic bistro, it's wonderful! Bacon, avocado and Gouda all tucked in between a fluffy two egg bed. Yummy!!!!

Here is my take on it. Everything is the same except I substituted two teaspoons of goat cheese for the gouda. Enjoy!

Sipping chocolate

I have been incredibly poor at blogging but I will be updating the half dozen recipes I have logged on my phone.

That being said, tonight was one of our new favorite things, Dagoba Sipping Chocolate and I added the Trader Joe's cookies for an added touch. Spectacular was the review from my peanut gallery.
